马尔代夫于2008年实现了全民电气化目标。为规范国内电力开发、使用行为及有效开发可再生能源以实现碳中和总体目标，马尔代夫政府先后颁布了以下法律法规：

1、《马尔代夫电力管理法》（Electricity Regulation of Maldives）；

2、《马尔代夫环境法》（Maldives Environment Act）；

3、《环境影响评估法规》（Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation）；

4、《2015年净计量法规》（Net Metering Regulation 2015）；

5、《并网光伏连接应用手册》（Manual for PV Grid – connecting Application）；

6、《发电、配电和供电许可证管理草案》（Generation Distribution and Supply License Regulation (Draft)）。
